Kuki militants haul up three highway looters

    IMPHAL, November 30: The Kuki Revolutionary Army (KRA) apprehended three extortionists in the wee hours today from Taphou Kuki area while collecting money from transporters.

    The extortionists have been identified as one J Paodii Paul, 26, son of N Jacob of Taphou; Khoule, 26, son of Khole and S Diipulou, 21, son of Sounii, all hailing from Phymai village.

    They were apprehended by cadres of KRA while extorting money from transporters along the NH-2.

    Rs 2090 in cash, country made pistol and two wallets were recovered from their possession.

    The arrested individuals were produced before the media this afternoon at Taphou area wherein they were handed over to Naga People’s Organisation (NPO) through Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills.

    Speaking to media persons the President of Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Seimang Khongsai, said that extortions and abduction related activities are very frequent along the NH-2 thereby throwing a wrong light on the national movement of the Kuki militants. However, this time due to the intervention of the KRA it has come to light that a handful of vested interest elements have been causing the disturbances.
