Labourer hurt after fall from bridge

JIRIBAM, November 29: A BRTF labourer today fell down from a bridge at 10.30 am on the National Highway 37 and he was rushed to Jiribam community Health Centre.

The victim has been identified as Ning Suan Lung Kamei, 26, son of Meidingthon Kamei of Oinamlong and he was rushed to Jiribam in the BRTF ambulance.

The victim was later referred to Silchar Medical Hospital as his condition became deteriorated.

In the mean-time, the Chirpool Bridge which was damaged in the recent bomb blast of November 26 is still not operational to heavy vehicles and many Imphal bound goods trucks are still stranded there.

The falling down of the BRTF labourer occurred at a bridge near Shanti Khunou, located at a distance of 65 km from Jiribam.

An accomplice who brought the wounded labour to the hospital in a BRTF ambulance said that Ning Suan Lung was working on the bridge along with his fellow labours, and accidentally fell down from the bridge which inflicted injuries on his head and chest.

Sources also said that regarding the Chirpool Bridge which was damaged in a bomb blast recently, the second in command of the 765 Bn BRTF, PK Singh when contacted had assured that restoration of the bridge under such condition would take two and half month time, although it is still not certain.
