IMPHAL, November 16: A 2G BTS tower has been installed at the Shija Hospitals and Research Institute (SHRI) today with the motive to provide uninterrupted mobile connectivity for the staffs of SHRI and people of Langol area.
The 2G BTS tower was officially opened by L Anantharam CJM BSNL NE-II during a simple inaugural function held at the premises of SHRI.
Addressing the gathering at the inaugural function, L Anantharam divulged that BSNL gave the nod for the installation of the tower after taking due consideration of the importance of Shija Hospital.
The self-service will do away the poor signal of mobile phone connectivity being faced by the hospital authority and the people of area, he said.
Further elaborating on the benefit of the newly installed tower, he maintained that it will give full advantage in Tele-medicine; and that the operations conducted at the hospital can be processed through video conferencing with other states and can improve the standard of medical studies through this facility by connecting with outside countries too.
He further lauded the SHRI for providing all the required infrastructure and power supply for the tower making the installation complete in record time of less than two days.
J Lunkim GM BSNL Manipur SSA (Secondary switching Area) asserted that 2G facilities was an initial set up that will only last for about two months; adding that it will soon be upgraded into 3G facility.
Dr Kh Palin, managing director, SHRI, recalled how the hospital and the local area have been enduring poor connectivity’s especially the patient parties during times of urgency.
He further expressed his optimism that the newly install tower will solve all the communication problems.
Further expressing his gratitude to the BSNL for providing the 2G BTS tower, Dr Kh Palin, stated that the hospital can operate their equipment like Tele-Histopathology, Tele-Radiology etc. at ease besides sending the examination test from here to the outside state and get report through the Internet.
