MOREH, December 22: Leaders of all communities residing in the border town of Moreh has appealed to the governments of India, Manipur and Myanmar to bring an amicable solution to the border fencing impasse at the earliest.
A resolution to this effect was brought today during an all communities leaders meeting held today at the conference hall of the Meetei Council Moreh, MCM which was also attended by leaders of student bodies and meira paibis.
The meeting observed that the stationing of security personnel/sepoy along the border area by both India and Myanmar following the impasse of the border fencing and construction of Integrated Check Post, ICP, has created tension for both the general populace of Moreh and those conducting business in the border town.
It has also affected free passing along the border, the meeting further observed.
The meeting also appealed to the governments’ that until the solution is brought, he further appealed to the concerned governments’ to stop construction of the ICP.
With Christmas just round the corner, it is appealed to the concerned authorities to allow people with the legal papers to pass through the border as usual without any disturbances.
Today’s meeting was attended by representatives of the Meetei Council Moreh(MCM), Hill Tribal Council (HTC), ACODOM, MMCM, Tamil Sangam Moreh, AMSU, Nupi Khunai Chaokhat Lamjing Lup, Kha Nongpok Apunba Nupi Lup, Border Trade & Chambers of Commerce Moreh, MWDA, MWDS.
