`Artists can express thoughts through art forms`

IMPHAL, December 30: PHED minister Hemochandra said that artists have special gifts which were endowed on them by God. They can express their thoughts through art forms with their innate gifts. As a part of its endeavor to bring development in this field, the government will be allocating a plot to the Arts Society of Manipur for setting up its infrastructure and expanding its development works.

The minister was speaking at the valedictory function of the 2nd multimedia artists workshop held today at the premises of the Imphal Art College and organized by the ASM.

Fifty-nine artists, including 27 in painting, 13 in graphics, 14 in sculpture and five in applied arts participated at the workshop.

Hemochandra was the chief guest, Koolchandra M-Them, chairman of the society was the president and M Joy Singh, additional secretary, MAHUD and revenue, Kh Sorojini Devi, former director arts and culture, Th Tombi Singh, former chairman and L Shamu Singh, former advisor, were the guests of honour.   

Hemochandra stated that many artists have different mindset and can draw in graphic, paintings, handmade statues and many other forms of arts. He asked youths to pursue art in their free time so that it will become their co-curricular activities. Artists have patience, discipline and talents, he said.
