`BJP committed to NE development`

IMPHAL, December 23: North East India Sampark Cell of the BJP hosted a pre-Christmas celebration for North East population residing in New Delhi today.

According to a statement of the BJP, Manipur Pradesh the function was held in Kushabhau Thakery hall at the BJP’s national headquarters at 11, Ashoka Road, New Delhi.

The chief guest for the function was deputy leader of the Opposition, Rajya Sabha Ravi Shankar Prasad, said the release.

He said on the occasion that the BJP is criticized for being a communal party but the party has formed governments in Goa, Meghalaya and Nagaland where Christians have a sizable population.

He reminded that it was former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee who formed a separate ministry i.e. Development of North East Region (DONER), continued the statement.

He also assured that if voted to power the party under able leadership of Narendra Modi will also work hard for the development of the region, further continued the statement.

Prasad also shared some of his experiences relating to the North East.

Dr Harshvardhan, former Health minister Delhi and the leader of BJP in the Delhi Assembly assured full support to the North East population in New Delhi and even asked them to call him directly if required, said the statement.

Sunil Deodhar, national convener of the cell also shared his experiences while working in the region, further continued the statement.

The programme ended with the people present giving each other advance greetings for Christmas and New Year.
