Gen secy victimised, claims KCP group

IMPHAL, December 6: The KCP (MC), Lalumba group which is under Suspension of Operation treaty with the Manipur government has rejected the claim from Imphal East District Police that its general secretary Rousow alias Ramananda was involved in the kidnapping case of a non-local from Kairang Mamang Leikai and was arrested by a team of police commando thereafter.

The clarification was made by the army-in-chief of the group, Yoheinba alias Nabakumar Luwang during a press meet held today at an undisclosed place within the district.

He informed that Rousow was arrested on the morning of December 4 by a team of CDO unit led by SI Saktisen from its designated camp inside the premises of 7th Manipur Rifles at Khabeisoi.

The CDO team called out Ramananda and asked him to accompany them to the police headquarters because the Superintendent of Police wants to meet him. The personnel told him that they had obtained permission from the chairman of the joint monitoring group, ADGP LM Khoute for the purpose, Luwang said.

It is very unfortunate that the IEDP issued a press release about the arrest of Rousow for his involvement in the kidnapping of a non-Manipuri, Suresh Prashad alias Suwan from Kairang, on December 3, who was subsequently rescued from the clutches of his kidnappers the next day. The whole local newspapers carried the stories on their December 6 editions, he stated.

Luwang said Rousow was related to the non-local businessman as the latter was married to the daughter of a cousin and he was in fact making his best efforts to secure the release of the businessman. He was seeking clues and had gathered information that the abduction was carried out by a KCP group.

He charged the state government of breaking the ground rules of SoO and foretold that the peace talks could run into trouble if the government continues to acts without respecting their agreement. The government should find out the truth behind the unacceptable happenings and issue a clarification at the earliest, he stated.
