Jiribam municipal employees joins 6th pay demand

JIRIBAM, Dec 18: A day after the Joint Coordination Committee All Manipur Municipalities Employees Workers Union and the Imphal Municipal Employees Union launched a cease-work strike in demand of the 6th Pay commission; the Jiribam Municipal Employees’ Union also staged a sit in protest in front of the Jiribam Municipal Office and observed a cease-work strike.

Speaking to media persons, Jiribam Municipal Employees’ Union, president, N Lakhi Kumar Singh said that they had already met with the state Chief Minister regarding the demand.

Even though the CM found the demand reasonable, owing to the state’s financial crunch, the government had been unable to meet the demand, he said.

However, considering the plight of the employees, the government need to meet the demand soon, he added.
