Law college observes Human Rights Day

BISHNUPUR, December 31: The Royal Academy of Law, Oinam today observed the Human Rights Day 2013 at the conference hall of the academy.

During the function, a one day legal awareness program on ‘the “Role of Legal Aid Clinics in Justice Delivery System” was conducted.

An annoual news-letter ‘Rule of Law 2013’ was also released during the function.

Govindas Konthoujam minister of Commerce and Industry, Veterinary and Animal Husbandry and Sericulture and Dr I Ibohalbi MLA of Oinam A/C attended as chief guest and president while O Budhi, chairperson of Oinam Nagar Panchayat and Kh Punilkanta ex minister took part as guests of honour respectively.

Dr N Pramod, associate professor of LMS Law College Imphal, K Manojkumar District and Session Judge of Bishnupur district, Dr Ch Narendra advocate, Ng Tejkumar director of Prosecution cum Public Prosecutor were resource persons in the function.

In connection the function, I Jugeshwar, principal of the Academy stated that the aim of organising the function is to educate the general public how to get the help of law when it is necessary to them. He further said that the Academy has not only taught law but also provided legal aid service to the general public.

As a chief guest, Govindas Konthoujam said that the law is above one and all and it governs the country and its countrymen. It is also mentioned that a citizen can urge his rightful demand to the government if one is well verse of law and in doing so the people of the state can equate with other developed countries of the world.

The minister further added that producing law students and providing legal aid service by the Academy will be helpful in bringing the country developed.
