CHANDEL, December 8: Reacting sharply against the notification of the District PMEGP chairman declaring the serial numbers of 191 selected beneficiaries under PMEGP 2011 without taking further steps for the beneficiaries to avail the benefits, the Naga Students Union Chandel questioned the concerned minister and department of why amicable solutions to the aged old pending or backlog cases for the selected beneficiaries should not be brought out at an earliest so as to relieve the selected applicants of mental and physical waste of time.

According to the note of the union, the kind of treatment given to the selected beneficiaries is totally against the spirit of PMEGP showing discriminatory attitude of the government towards the tribal people in the district.

Irked by the silence of the department failing to offer any kind of alternative arrangements to the pending cases till date, went further asking whether making the unemployed youths of Chandel to suffer due to this is the policy of the concerned department.

The release informed that the union was compelled to intervene as request made to the concerned principal secretary and the minister concerned by the agitating beneficiaries under the initiatives of MLA of 41 A/C Chandel failed to yield positive result.

Therefore, the union, in this regard, has threatened to launch any future course of agitation if the concerned authorities failed to bring amicable solution on or before December 16.
