Russian language study centre introduced in Slopeland School

IMPHAL, December 15: Creating a sort of history in the education sector in Manipur, the Slopeland Public School has today signed a Memorandum of Understanding with Consul General of the Russian Federation Kolkata in order to introduce Russian Language Study Centre in the school so as to exchange ideas in the field of education and culture.

The signing of the MOU and opening of Study Centre was held as part of the ongoing 7-day celebration of the Culture for Friendship and Cooperation.

The function was attended by Consul General of Russian Federation Kolkata Irina K Bashkirova as chief guest and Alexander V Mazarika director of the Russian Centre of Science and Culture; Dr Nara Singh, vice-president of the All India Peace and Solidarity Organisation; Madhavi Bhatacharya, director of the Institute of Russian Language, Kolkata; Y Themboi, chairman of the Slopeland School and N Babulin, principal of the Slopeland School as presidium members respectively.

During the function, Dr Babulin said that the signing of the agreement was formalised to exchange ideas in the field of education, culture.

This will be beneficial for the students, who would like to go the Russian federation for studies, he said.

Likewise, the Russian students will come in the school for study. He further mentioned that this would encourage the sharing of culture and related areas, he continued.

The Consul General mentioned that learning the language will help bridge the culture and society of the two countries.

Dr Nara mentioned that Indo-Russia relationship is a historic tie-up. He further said that the opening of the Russian language study centre is an opportunity to the students of the school.

Dr Nara further mentioned that Slopeland may have the opportunity to avail the opening of an UNESCO university soon for the lease deprived students.
