He told IFP that the BJP does not have a communal agenda or play discriminatory tactics to communities. “Being a theologian, I don’t see any problems in joining BJP. A wrong impression is deliberately created about the party, it is not religiously inclined,” he said.

Jonathan Tao and Hingba Thomas also added that they feel that BJP can make a difference in developing the hill districts. Tao mentioned that the Congress party is rooted in corruption and people are tired of it. Stating that there is a wave of change in the Centre, he expressed optimism BJP will get maximum votes in the Lok Sabha elections at Senapati district.

Hingba Thomas in similar note mentioned that there is not much development schemes that a regional party can do. Funds are provided by the centre and a national party is needed to bring about holistic development in the hill districts adding that to bring such change, he joined the BJP.
