Four year old saves girl from drowning

IMPHAL, January 31: A four year old boy saved a seven year old drowning girl on January 29 last at 3 pm at Langathel Maning Leikai in Thoubal district.

The girl identified as Sagolsem Ileja alias Abem, 7, daughter of Robindro Singh was bathing along with a boy named Jetli in the Langathel River.

While bathing, she got submersed into the river, which was witnessed by the four years old Ames, son of Sagolsem Sanjit Singh.

The boy ran to his home which is about 200 meter far from the river and informed his 13 year old cousin, who in turn called out others.

Soon a group of locals started searching for the girl in the river.

A local, Puyam bali, 38 found the girl submerged and unconscious after about five to six minutes of frantic searching.

The girl was rushed to the Thoubal District Hospital at around 4 pm from where she was referred to RIMS after provision of first aid.

The patient party reached RIMS at 4:30 pm. She is now out of danger, however is under ICU observation.
