IMPHAL, January 3: In a gruesome incident, a man hacked his own father to death with a machete today around 4 pm at Khoijuman Maning Leikai ward number 1 under Bishnupur police station. Soon after killing his father, he fled from the scene and had remained absconding.
According to police sources, he attacked his father with a machete following a heated argument on a family issue.
The police identified the accused son as Khangjarakpam Boby, 34, and his father as K Sanakhomba, 62, of Khoijuman Maning Leikai ward No 1.
The father recieved a cut on the forehead and back of his head. Sanakhomba died on the spot, police said.
The police have picked up the dead body and deposited at the RIMS morgue for necessary post mortem and taken up a murder case regarding the incident.
The machete used in the crime has also been recovered from the spot.
A massive search operation is going on to nab the absconding son for questioning by the police.
Regarding the case, police has pulled up some family members of the deceased.
Meanwhile, local source said that Boby hacked his father to death while his father was sitting near a fire in the backyard of his house.
Locals further informed that the son was intoxicated.
