Muslims bodies to boycott Modi visit

IMPHAL, Jan 30 (NNN): The open dialogue on present political situation of Manipur Muslims (past and present) held at Classic Hotel, Imphal on Thursday organised by Jamiatul Ulema Manipur (Arshad Madani) and Muslim Social Workers’ Union, Manipur with Janab Moulana Moinuddin Quasmi, Moulana Heshamuddin and Janab Abdul Qaiyum, has resolved to boycott the visit of Narendra Modi in Imphal, Manipur considering his anti-minority activities, especially in 2002 Gujarat riots where thousands of minority were massacred and tortured without any protection from the Government machineries.

According to the press note of the Muslim body, the meeting also resolved to boycott any Muslim leader who has been trying to help Narendra Modi in becoming Prime Minister of India.

The meeting also minutely discussed why Modi was denied of granting visa (to visit USA) by the American Government for his anti-minority activities. It is also resolved that `a highly communal person like Modi` should not be allowed to land in the secular soil of Manipur in order to prevent the tarnishing of the beautiful image of Manipur, the Muslim body further said. It then resolved to organise next public meeting on February 5 to chalk out the modalities for further necessary action.

Members and delegates present then took the the resolution to thank to the Congress leaders for nominating minority Muslim leader Md Abdul Salam as MP of Rajya Sabha. It also resolved to send gratitude letters to Sonia Gandhi, UPA Chairperson, Rahul Gandhi, AICC vice-president, Dr Manmohan Singh, Prime Minister of India, Ahmed Patel, AICC political secretary, O Ibobi, Chief Minister, Gaikhngam, President MPCC and other Congress leaders, social workers and others who helped in nominating a minority leader as MP of Rajya Sabha.
