Narendra Modi to visit state on February 8

IMPHAL, January 9: Bharatiya Janata Party prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will be visiting the state in his first ever visit to the North East on February 8.

Addressing a press conference today at the party’s office, the BJP Manipur Pradesh president said that the major defeat faced by the Congress in the recent polls in four states, show the changing political scenario of the country.

It is pretty clear that the people have lost confidence from the Congress, he said.

The defeat of Congress in states like Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, West Bengal, Karnataka, Kerala, Gujarat shows that the Congress is losing support, he said.

Asserting that the party has already sought permission to hold a public meeting at a venue from amongst Khuman Lampak, Mapal Kangjeibung, Hapta Kangjeibung, THAU ground for the party’s prime ministerial candidate to address his supporters, he further said that in case the party fail to get the needed clearance for the said venues, the public meeting where Narendra Modi will be addressing the crowd will be held at Langjing.

Preceding Modi’s visit, the party’s national vice president Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi and national spokesperson Nirmala Sitharaman will be visiting the state on January 11.

The two leaders will conduct mass enrolment of party members at Soudongpung Lampak, Kongba Bazar the same day, followed by a public meeting at Khangabok at 12 pm, he said before adding that the two will be inspecting the international border fencing at Moreh and visit Pallel for a meeting the same day.

The two party leaders will also attend a mass public meeting at Nambol, Oinam on January 13, he said.

Chaoba continued that Narendra Modi will be visiting Manipur on February 8.

The party president also officially announced the induction of Samuel Jendai, ex-Cabinet minister; Purul Shepu Henry Paotei, former MLA of Karong AC; Prof Naorem Joykumar Singh; Soso Shaiza daughter of former chief minister, Yangmaiso Shaiza.
