NSCN (K) camp busted in Tamei sub-division

JIRIBAM, January 7: The 27 Assam Rifles posted at Kadamtala Jiribam has busted a NSCN (K) camp and seized arms and ammunition from the established camp located between Lungchai and Thuisenphai under the sub-division of Tamei of Tamenglong District, Manipur on the night of January 6.

Speaking to the media persons, Commanding Officer col HR Singh of 27 AR said that the operation Hornbill took place on the late night of Monday January 6, based on specific report.

During the operation, the 27AR seized a large number of arms and ammunition from NSCN (K) Camp, he said.

Further according to the AR officer, the seized items are two AK 47 Magazines;  five 303 Riffles;  two SLRs; one Carbine machine gun; 300 gms Gun Powder; three numbers of 7.62 mm live round; 20 combat dresses; six punch; three solar panels; six batteries and 49 fired case of ammunition, along with the party flag.

The AR team had also seized documents and some kitchen items.

Further according to the CO, the camp was approximately 500 feet by 300 feet and run by a self-style major namely Chamdam Kamei with nearly 20-25 cadres. Unfortunately, the cadres managed to escape taking advantage of dense forest, he said.
