IMPHAL, January 16: The Manipur University Students Union Revival Demand Committee has protested in front of the vice chancellor, Manipur University today. The students thronged the administrative block with black badges and pamphlets alleging the vice chancellor of mal-administration.
The students also brought ballot boxes and demanded that the VC keep them in his custody as there have been no elections for reconstituting the student body for some years now.
The protestors had a stand-off with the security personnel at the administrative block, where they demanded the VC to make an appearance and that the ballot boxes will be handed over to him.
Singamei police was called in to pacify the agitating students who started throwing the metal ballot boxes around while shouting slogans. The boxes were finally handed over to the dean of student welfare who appeared on behalf of the VC.
