Victim wants action against Dingku

IMPHAL, January 16: Of the three young weightlifters who were allegedly assaulted by Ng Dingku Singh, one is presently undergoing treatment at the at the female medicine ward of the Shija Hospitals and Research Institutes.

Soibam Aranbala of Moreh Ward No 6 spoke to this IFP reporter this evening from her hospital bed.

She said she has been staying at the Sport Authority of India (SAI) Special Area Games (SAG) Hostel since about a year.

Recounting her ordeal of January 13 night, the 17 year old said that around 7.30 pm, Ng Dingku Singh who is a boxing coach came at their hostel and called out all the inmates and asked who had scribbled some words on his car.

She further said that Dingku Singh further checked the handwritings of the inmates and based on the handwriting called out three of them including herself and started beating them.

She identified the other two girls as Chungkha Pamei and Yaihabi.

She said Dingku had also told them to bring their teacher and talk to him.

The next evening on January 14, she caught fever and could not attend class, at which her coach A Rajan came and enquired about her absence, the she recounted about the incident, she said.

Later, she was admitted to the Shija Hospitals in the evening as her health condition deteriorated, she said before saying that Dingku had poured water over them before beating them with sticks.

The young girl further demanded befitting action against Dingku Singh.
