AMSU condemns `racial attacks` in Delhi

IMPHAL, February 11: All Manipur Students’ Union (AMSU) and civil society organisations have staged a sit-in-protest at GP Women’s College condemning the recent spurt of racial attacks in Delhi perpetrated against the people of the NE.

Thiyam Naresh, president AMSU said that North-East students and different people including workers stay in Delhi and these people, specially those in metropolitan cities, have been targetted.

He further said that government of India is not still looking properly at the issues and gave punishment to the culprits.

He further continued that the govt. of India should enact Anti- Racial Discrimination Acts for the North-East state. They also submitted the memorandum to the Governor, Chief Minister and Deputy Chief Minister.

He further mentioned that Governor is out of station and he will be returning February 17. They will be waiting for the return and if no positive action is taken by then they will put up the matter with North-East Students Organisation.
