Assembly session from Feb 24 to Mar 3

IMPHAL, February 7: The 7th Session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly will have 6 sittings commencing from February 24 till March 3rd next month.

The duration for the sittings was fixed by the Business Advisory Committee (BAC) of the Manipur Legislative Assembly in a meeting held this afternoon around 3 pm at the secretariat building of the new assembly situated at Chingmeirong, chaired by the Speaker of the house, Th Lokeshwar.

The sitting will be held consecutively for five days starting from February 24 till and 28 and conclude on the March 3 after two days gap.

Sources revealed that on the first day, the Governor of Manipur will address the house followed by motion of thanks to the Governor’s Address, obituary references (if any), presentation of BAC report, presentation of supplementary demands for grants, 2013-14, presentation of budget estimates, 2014, motion for vote on accounts, 2014 and introduction of Government Bill (S) (If any).

The same sources further informed that the following day (Feb 25th) the house will move ahead with question and answer hours followed by general discussion for grants, 2013-14, discussion and voting on supplementary demands for grants, 2013-14, discussion and voting on motion for vote on accounts, 2014 and introduction of Manipur Appropriation Bill(s).

Similarly, the first day of the 3rd session will begin with question and answer hours followed by presentation of Committee Report.

On the fifth day also question and answer hours will be followed by presentation of committee report and consideration and passing of Government Bill(s).

Question and answer hours, other business (if any), consideration and passing of Manipur Appropriation Bill(s), private members’ business will mark by the fifth and subsequently the session will end on March 3, with question and answer hours and consideration and passing of Government Bill(s).

It may be noted that the BAC members comprise of Manipur Legislative Assembly speaker, Th Lokeshwar as the chairman and other members including deputy speaker, MK Preshaw, Chief Minister, Minister of Law and Legislative Affairs, NCP MLA, L Ibomcha, AITC MLA, Dr I. Ibohalbi, LJSP MLA, Karam Shyam and NPF MLA Dikho.
