ATSUM announces 3rd phase of ROTO

IMPHAL, Feb 28: The All Tribal Students’ Union, Manipur is all set to launch its “3rd phase of ROTO (Reckoning to the others)” by March 14 which will be followed by indefinite blockade of national highways, and closing down of all national projects in the state. The student body headquartered at Nagaram conveyed a press conference at the Manipur Press Club today.

Finance secretary, Andria Anal said ATSUM, Muan Tombing demand immediate intervention to invoke the power conferred by Article 309 of the Constitution of India in Manipur Health Sectors and to avail privileges according to seniority in every department of Manipur with special reference to Manipur Health Service and Agriculture Department.

He said a memorandum was already submitted to CM O Ibobi Singh on February 22, 2014. The union is strongly against the services extension of a government employee who has retired and this practice should be stoppes by March 14, 2014, he demanded. He also appealed to the government to discuss about the setting up of a separate Scheduled Tribe Commission which was assured by the CM during a talk with representatives of the union on the November 24, 2013.

If the said demands are not fulfilled, different forms of agitation will be launched, he warned.
