IMPHAL, February 10: The Ayekpam Shyamsunder Birth Anniversary Celebration committees has organised 100 birth anniversary of Ayekpam Shyamsunder at Rupmahal Theatre, Imphal today.
Elangbam Dinamani Singh, president of the Manipur Sahitya Parishad attended as chief guest, S Badeshor Sharma, sectary Manipur State Kala Akademy as a guest of honour, N Tombi Singh, chairman Ayekpam Shyamsunder Birth Anniversary Celebration committees as president of the function respectively.
A book named “Manipuri Sumang Leela and Theater” was also released in the function.
Ayekpam Shyamsunder was the former founder member of Rupmahal Theatre and also a director. He taught at CC Higher Secondary.
During the function, E Dinamani said that Shamsunder was a deep thinker of tradition and culture of Manipur adding that he had also close relationship with many literary societies such as Manipur Sahitya Parishad and Sahitya Premi Samiti etc. He further mentioned that Shamsunder was a translator adding that in his time translator was considered as substandard literary work.
