Condemn assualt of IFP scribe by IRB: Nasir

IMPHAL, February 12: A press meet condemning the assualt of IFP senior reporter Aribam Chaoba was called at the residence of state Agriculture minister Md Nasir this evening around 3.30pm.

Speaking at the conference, the minister’s personal assistant Imran said the minister who is out of station at present has vehemently condemned the assualt of the reporter by IRB personnel.

Clarifying on the reported declaration of the IRB havildar involved in the assualt Md Mujibur that he was a close relative of the minister, he said the minister has no relation with the havildar whatsoever and not even from the Lilong constituency.

He further said that the minister feels, a public leader’s name should not be used in such a manner.

WHile declaring that Mujibur is from Santhel under Wabagai AC, he further said the havildar should be accorded punishment according to the law.

Meanwhile, the minister speaking over the phone asserted that he had no relation whatsoever with the said havildar.

He said such incident should not be repeated; and further declared to file a defamation case against the errant IRB personnel and personally complain to both the chief minister and the deputy chief minister on his return from Nagpur.
