Contract lectures set February 14 deadline for regularisation of posts

IMPHAL, February 3: The All Manipur Government Higher Secondary School Contract Lectures Association (Hill) (Contracted from Part time Lecturers) submitted an ultimatum to the state chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh threatening with agitations unless, their services are regularised before, February 14, 2014.

The association has said in the ultimatum that since 1992, the body has been rendering proper service for the promotion and encouragement of quality education in the state with the same workload of the regular lectures, including in census or election duties.

The ultimatum further reflected that inspite of many repeated request and fervent appeals, the government has not taken up any concrete and viable measure to solve the problem of lecturers, except for some verbal assurances from the chief engineer and the state education minister.

Appealing for sympathy and empathy towards the lecturers and to regularise their services by February 14, the association has further warned that it will resort to all kinds of agitations ranging from boycott of exam duty to parliamentary election duty, unless there is positive reply to its demand.
