Kishan, Token & Rajen JAC demonstrates against repeated deferment of judgement

IMPHAL, February 28: The CBI Manipur branch SP Balasubramanium has said there is 100 percent surety that the judgement in the CBI vs Hopeson Ningshen case will be pronounced on March 5, said the JAC formed in connection with the killing of SDO Th Kishan and his subordinate staff mandal Y Token and driver A Rajen Sharma.

The CBI SP had provided the assurance during a meeting with representatives of the JAC today.

Concerned over the repeated deferment of the verdict of the case, the JAC, supported by family members and several civil society organisations today took out a demonstration rally at Lamphel Sanakeithel and submitted a memorandum to the director, Central Bureau of Investigation through the state CBI office.

The memorandum urged the director, CBI to prevail upon the prosecution to contest any further adjournment of the case and deferment of judgement; to utilised best effort to apprehend the co accused in the case who are presently declared absconders and to take a fresh look in the case as there is apprehension that every person responsible for the gruesome murder case have not been brought in the ambient of law.

(Late) Kishan and his two subordinates were allegedly abducted by NSCN (IM) from somewhere in Ukhrul and later found hacked to death at Taphou in Senapati along National Highway-2 (Imphal-Dimapur Road) on February 17, 2009.

This noon, a large number of people led by the JAC and family members started a silent rally from Ima Panthoibi Sanglen Lamphel Fishery Gate upto the CBI state unit office at Lamphelpat.

The demonstrators picketed the CBI state office holding placards “Truth is on the march, nothing can stop it now,” “Justice delayed is justice denied,” “Injustice anywhere is threat to justice,” etc.

Later, JAC chairman S Tikendrajit Singh; convenor Y Kapur and advisor S Brojen met with the SP CBI, Manipur Branch.

Meanwhile, a public meeting held at Ima Panthoibi ground Thangmeiband with UCM, AMUCO, AMKIL, KIL, Poirei Leimarol, IPSA, THANIL, TUC had further resolved that the civil society organisations of the state with support from the general public will initiate strong agitations if the judgement is further deferred from March 5 and that higher courts will be approached if the judgement fails to satisfy the public.

Meanwhile, younger brother of (Late) Dr Th Kishan, Roshan said that the judgement of the case was to be announced on January 28, 2014 but was deferred to January 28.

The date was again deferred to February 15, he said before adding that it was last deferred to March 5, 2014 as the preparation of the judgement was still incomplete and given a fresh date of judgement. The first hearing of the case in the Special CBI court Patiala Court, New delhi was held on March 21, 2011.
