NYP, RGKA 2014 launched at Sadar Hills

KANGPOKPI, Feb 21: As part of the nationwide launch of the National Youth Policy (NYP), 2014 and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan (RGKA), 2014 today, the Nehru Yuva Kendra, Kangpokpi organized a Mass Youth Rally from Kanglatongbi to Motbung in Sadar Hills.

Seikholet Singsit, deputy inspector of Sschools, Saitu-Gamphazol attended the programme as chief guest.

“The government of India has done numerous development works for the Indian youths particularly in the field of sports,” noted Seikholet Singsit while speaking at the launch program at Orphanage UJB School, Kanglatongbi, Sadar Hills.

He continued that it is very much vital on the part of the youth of the country to acknowledge the various government programs to empower them to achieve their full potential and realise their dreams.

Seikholet Singsit also appealed to the youth to render their best and utmost efforts in their study as well and also involves in the field of sports.

Salam Gourakishwor Singh, district youth co-ordinator, NYK, Kangpokpi elaborated on the National Youth Policy and Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan.

He said that National Youth Policy is a comprehensive policy document that states the vision of the Government of India for the youth of the country and also how this vision is sought to be realized by the Government.

NYP is meant to be a guiding document for all concerned departments of Government of India for all youth-related programmes further added Salam Gourakishwor Singh.

The Youth Co-ordinator, NYK Kangpokpi further continued that Rajiv Gandhi Khel Abhiyan(RGKA) is a unique initiative to converge central Government schemes namely MGNREGA, NLCPR-Central, ACA for LWE, BRGF, etc.

While highlighting the objectives of RGKA, Salam Gouramishwor Singh pointed out that it is to promote sports as a way of life among the youth and increased access to sports facilities throughout the country as well as to conduct sports competitions across the country to identify talent and also to encourage achievement of excellence in sports.

The schemes envisage over 6,500 sport complexes in the rural block of the country at the cost of Rs.1.75 crores with sports equipment worth Rs.15 lakhs added Gourakishwor.

In the meantime, a Mass Youth Rally, organized to promote and proclaim the various development policy of the Government of India for the youth of the country, was flagged off by Seikholet Singsit at Kanglatongbi and led the rally that proceed towards Motbung Bazar.

More than 1000 student from 18 educational institution in and around Motbung, Charhajare and Kanglatongbi area participated in the rally which ended at Bishnulal Govt High School at Charhajare.

A part from the school students, leaders of various youth clubs, panchayat members and village council members, community leader, women groups, NCC, NSS, sportspersons, representatives of central and state governments, district administration and police personnel also took part in the rally who shout a slogan “Long Live NYP, RGKA, NYK and Sadar Hills.”
