SENAPATI, Feb 9 (NNN): The United Naga Council (UNC) has asked the abductors of Island Tangkhul village secretary Mathotmi Chahong at the earliest to avoid any undesired consequences.

The UNC said today that such kidnapping of a village leader can invite unnecessary problems and said further holding of hostage of the village leader is giving rise to tension in the area.

The Naga body then suggested whatever may be the cause that led to the abduction of the village leader, there is always room to settle the matter through dialogue.

45-year-old Mathotmi Chahong has been abducted by armed men suspected to be Kuki National Front – Nehlun (KNF-N) militants, from his home at around 9 pm of February 7.
