IMPHAL, February 21: Various departments of the state government were totally paralysed after employees initiated their protest by taking mass casual leaves.
The Join Administration Council of All Manipur Government Employee Organisation and All Manipur Trade Union Council had called for a two days mass casual leave of the government employees on Friday and Saturday.
A member of the JAC said that from the morning of Friday employees of every department have taken mass casual leaves for two days. The employees are positive about the results of their agitation.
However, employees of the Old Secretariat and New Secretariat didn’t turn up. The office of the DC Imphal East and Imphal West were also left paralysed. All the department employees in the hill districts were on mass casual leave so the transaction and the file process of the department totally failed in the state, he added.
Briefing the media, government spokesperson Moirangthem Okendro said that the agitation of the AMGEO and AMTUC is genuine but the state financial status is such that if the DA and TA are given it will affect the financial status of the state to a great extent.
He appealed the agitators to bear for few more time.
