Utlou locals condemn setting ablaze of vehicle

BISHNUPUR, February 9: Locals of Utlou Mayai Leikai today held a public meeting condemning the setting ablaze of a Tata Iris which was parked outside the owner’s residential gate during the night of January 29, 2014.

The Tata Iris bearing regd number MN 01 X 3849 belongs to Thounoujam Ibomcha, 41, son of (L) Maneba of Utlou Mayai Leikai.

Unidentified miscreants had around 11pm of January 29, last set on fire the vehicle which was park outside the gate.

Today’s public meeting was also attended by Utlou GP pradhan L Rishikanta; Youth Social Welfare Association, Utlou secretary L Ibohal; Utlou Pukhri Achouba Meira Paibi president H Devala and local elder H Rani Devi.

The meeting resolved that the locals and the police are unable to find the miscreants who had set the vehicle on fire and further appealed to the concerned authorities to nab the culprits. It was also resolved that anyone caught in any such incident, the culprit will be made to pay for all the things which have gone missing from the locality.

The locals also resolved that from today onwards, both sale and consumption of intoxicants including alcohol will be banned and anyone caught consuming intoxicants in the area will be fined Rs 2000, while those selling will be fined Rs 5000.
