7th session of 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly concludes

IMPHAL, March 3: The 7th session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly concluded today.

The session which commenced from February 24 had six sittings in total.

The concluding day today was presided over by Speaker of the House, Th Lokeshwar Singh.

The first business of the day was the three short notice questions and eight starred questions.

NCP MLA from Keishamthong A/C L Ibomcha Singh moved a Calling Attention Motion “The dumping of garbage all around the city” in the second business of the day.

Dy chief minister who is also the Tribal Affairs & Hills minister tabled the “Manipur State Commission for Scheduled Tribes Bill, 2014” for discussion, while Education minister M Okendro tabled the “Rajiv Gandhi national University, Manipur Bill, 2014.”

The last day of the 7th session of the 10th Manipur Legislative Assembly also witnessed, Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykishan Singh raised a discussion on a Matter of Public Interest on “A regular medical superintendent at the earliest for the smooth administration of Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.”

In the last business of the day, MLA Kh Joykishan Singh raised “A matter which is not a point of order on the alleged irregularities in the promotion of SOs in Power department” under the Matters under Rule No 337 of the Rules of procedure and conduct of Business.

After the business, the speaker adjourned the House sine-die.

During the day’s proceeding, speaker Th Lokeshwar Singh taking an opportune time observed in the House that Y Indira Devi had retired from her post of Assembly secretary on February 28, 2014 and will be replaced by Akoijam Tiken as the secretary in charge.

He further stated that Indira was the first woman secretary of the Manipur Legislative Assembly.

During the six day long Assembly session, the members raised two obituary references, 41 starred questions, six un-starred questions, seven Short Notice Questions, six Calling Attention Motions, two Short Duration Discussions and one Private members Resolution withdrawn.

Five different papers were also tabled during the session.
