IMPHAL, March 11: Additional superintendent of police, Imphal West had today assured that investigation on the case regarding the killing of M Ibosana has been almost ‘100 percent’ complete and only the accused are to be arrested, informed the JAC formed in connection with the incident.

Questioning why the police are yet to arrest the culprits if the investigation is completed, the JAC along with family members and Langthabal ex-MLA called a press conference today at the Manipur Press Club.

The body of 37 year old M Ibosana who had remained traceless ever since being allegedly kidnapped by unknown armed persons from Kakwa Sofa Leirak on March 2 was found in a decomposed condition and stuffed in a jute bag on March 4, last.

The body was found from alongside the Inter Village Road connecting Langthabal to Ningombam at Langthabal Phura Makhong Chingmai under Singjamei Police.

Addressing media persons, JAC co-convenor T Nanao said that the JAC along with the locals will be staging a sit in protest tomorrow at Kakwa and the surrounding areas of Singjamei demanding the arrest of the culprits involved at the earliest.

He said four days after the recovery of the dead body, JAC representatives, family members and ex MLA of Langthabal O Joy had met with the state chief minister at his bungalow during which, the latter had asserted that almost 80 percent investigation of the case had been solved and all the culprits will be arrested at the earliest.

The CM had also appealed for the family to claim the body. During the course of time, Dr AK Jhalajit SP Imphal West had also invited the JAC for talks, he said. Representatives of the JAC met the police official today during which he had made the announcement, he continued.

Pointing an accusing finger towards the inability of the police to arrest the culprits even when the addl SP had assured completion of the investigation, he asked whether the government is trying to conceal the culprits.

He further expressed the fear of the JAC and others that the real mastermind could be someone influential and powerful individual.

O Joy said there is a need to know the motive behind the killing first and expressed apprehension that he could be killed due to some personnel enmity or regarding monetary demands as he was not related to any insurgent outfit.

The ex MLA also condemned the killing and declared such atrocity is an insult to the whole society.

He lamented that the state police are not there when the public needs them the most, which he commented is very much “unfortunate for the people of the state.”
