Binodkumar Sharma Memorial Photography award distributed

IMPHAL, March 6: The award distribution ceremony of 1st Dr GA Binodkumar Sharma Memorial Photography contest organised by the Manipuri Photography Club (MPC), was held today.

The contest divided was held for two category including landscape and street Photography.

Rika Guite from Manipur was the winner of the landscape category while Partha Pratim Shah of Kolkata, in the street Photography category. The winners were awarded Rs 8000 each along with memento and certificate.

MPC president, Devendra Hijam, recalling the beginning of the club said that it was started as an online group. He claimed that the club have around 10000 members at national and International level. An office of the club is established at RKCS Art Gallery.

Devendra Hijam elaborated that the MPC have also render various social activities such as organising health camp, tree plantation etc besides photography.

Program Executive, Doordarshan Kendra Imphal, Manibabu Likmabam said that photography requires creativity and people admired such talent.

Observing the potential of youths in the field of photography, he expressed the need exploit the talents by providing a platform to compete in national and international level.

Resident Editor, Imphal Free Press, Senate Khuraijam said that the photo gives more meaning of history than a recorded document.  

Photos give stronger narrative than the spoken words, he added.
