BJP stands firm in opposing Chakpi Multi Purpose project

CHANDEL, March 5: BJP will continue to oppose and reject the proposal for construction of Chakpi Multi Purpose Project, a Mega Dam if it is voted to power during the fourth coming Lok Sabha Election said BJP candidate for Outer Manipur parliamentary constituency Prof Gangmumei Kamei.

Addressing an election campaign at Chakpikarong today, Prof Gangmumei stated that most big dams are complete failures and added that there is no use of constructing dams in the hill when he went on to narrate his experience of Khoupum Dam.

Saying that politics is the art of governance, Prof Gangmumei in his speech stated that he would fight for good governance free from corruption, development of good road connectivity.

Meanwhile Prof Gangmumei has disowned the statement appearing today in some of the newspaper wherein he was quoted fighting LS poll on integrity plank.

Giving clarification on the newspaper report Prof Gangmumei said he was misquoted and opined that that the report is political image motivated.

Coming down on the rumors, spread by some section of the people that he termed Anal Tribe as old Kuki in his book, the professor clarified that the book written with sources from Anal people gave a clear picture of how Anal and Kuki people differed in their set up,  ownership of lands and cultural practices.

While highlighting the failures of the Congress government in the state, president of BJP Chandel Ts Willingson Anal came down heavily on the government and criticized it.

Former minister Samuel Zendai, former MLA Henry and PA Thekho were among other important speakers of the campaign.

Later, representatives from the gathering of surrounding chiefs, pastors and common people who spoke on the occasion assured support to the party.
