Bullet-ridden body found at Leingangpokpi

IMPHAL, March 9: A bullet-ridden body was found this morning at Leingangpokpi Village, under Yairipok Police Station in Sadar Hills East sub-division Senapati district.

The concerned police has picked the body and deposited it with the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, mortuary for post mortem.

According to reports culled from the spot, the man could have been brought to the place and shot dead.

Meanwhile, Leingangpokpi villagers inhabiting the surrounding area said they had heard loud gun like sounds last night around 9.30 pm.

The body was found by locals of Nongbran Village who were going to the river this morning. The locals found the body face down with the head turned towards the hillock.

The hands were tied with a rope and there were indications of the man being brought to the place from somewhere else.

A bullet mark was visible on the man’s back, which pierce through the chest.

A purse containing only an RC book of a vehicle was found from the death body.

The RC book of a TVS bike (Star Sport Black Green in colour) bearing registration number MN -03/A 2287 and was in the name of one Haopu Haokip, son of Jangkhodem Haokip and issued by the DTO, Kangpokpi.
