CORE condoles demise of N Nripen Singh

IMPHAL, March 21: The members and team of the Centre for Organisation Research & Education (CORE), Manipur are deeply saddened to learn of the sudden loss of our beloved “Pabung”, Nongmaithem Nripen Singh who passed away in the morning of Friday, the 20th Day of Lamta (Friday, 21st March 2014), said it in a press release from CORE.

It further mentioned that Pabung Nripen became a member of CORE in 2008 and continued to work with the organisation with quiet dedication till the day of his demise today. During his six years of being a member of the organization, he served in many capacities, including Accounts Officer, Researcher Emeritus and member of the Elders’ Council as Honorary Treasurer, it added.

He totally believed in our mission and gave all his whole-hearted strength to the activities of CORE. He was our father and mentor and, above all, a comrade in arms. Born on October 17, 1927, Pabung Nripen had a profound faith in humanity, social justice and a highly ethical conduct in public life. Pabung left for us a rich and towering heritage that will be a challenge for us to honour.  The measure of a man is not – “how did he die” but – “how did he live”, not – “what did he gain” but – “what did he give”. These are the units to measure the worth of a man, as a man, regardless of birth. CORE salutes a man of uncommon worth in Manipur and grieves deeply along with his near and dear ones, it said.
