Dr Nara calls for free and fair polls

IMPHAL, March 4: A two-day state convention, organised by Manipur state council, All India Youth Federation, on ‘Youth for Social Change’ was held on Tuesday at Rup Mahal Theatre.

Former arts and culture minister Dr M Nara Singh was the chief guest while state president of MSC/AIYF Ch Sharat Singh presided over the event.  President of All Manipur Bar Association Khaidem Mani was the guest of honour as social scientist Dr Dhanabir Laishram and L Sadananda Singh, general secretary of Senior Citizen for Society were the resource persons respectively.

Urging the youths to change, Dr Nara said that free and fear elections should be conducted at the coming MP elections. Money power and muscle power should not be used at the elections. Youth should not only speak but also need to work hard and mobilise the public. There should be no corruption in during elections. The lawless land needs to be changed by the youth. Mobilisation is needed by the youth in giving public awareness and also to create new ideas to the youth. Only the youth can bring development in the state, he added.

“Youth are very important in today’s society to bring changes. Corruption is high in the state and people consider it as normal. The education system should teach the youths ideas of bringing changes.  Youth will bring social changes and good governance,” Khaidem Mani said.

They should follow the Directive Principles of State policy and also the fundamental rights. The youth federation should look forward to bringing development. People need to support good candidates who will work for the people in Parliament, he added further appealing the youths to elect the right candidates at the MP elections to bring development.
