IMPHAL, March 14: Based on specific intelligence, troops of Red Shield Division apprehended five armed cadres of different UG groups in three different operations on March 11 and 12, 2014.
Conveying it in press release, in a joint operation launched by troops of Red Shield Division and Imphal West Police Commandos on March 11 at 7:30 pm in general area of Lamsang, two cadres identified as self styled private Thingam Abung of PREPAK and self styled corporal Leishram Gandhi of KYKL were apprehended with a pistol, one live round and two mobile phones.
On the same day, an active cadre of URF who identified as Oinam Dhamen Singh was apprehended with one Chinese hand grenade in general area of Ngaikhon Khunou bus stand at 10:30 pm, it said.
In two different operations launched on March 12, 2014, troops of Red Shield Division apprehended one NSCN (K) cadre identified self styled corporal Ningalung Rongmei from village Noney with one 9 mm pistol and four live rounds while a cadre of PULF (AZAD), self styled corporal Md Akbar Ali was apprehended from general area of Lamsang in possession of one pistol and five live rounds. All five apprehendees have been handed over to the police, it said.
