Kidnapped man found dead

IMPHAL March 4: The body of a 37 year old man who had remained traceless ever since being allegedly kidnapped by unknown armed persons coming in Maruti from Kakwa Sofa Leirak on March 2 at around 7.pm was found today in a decomposed condition and stuffed in a jute bag.

The body was found from alongside the Inter Village Road connecting Langthabal to Ningombam at Langthabal Phura Makhong Chingmai under Singjamei Police around 6.30pm today.

The face of the deceased was also found totally disfigured suspected to hit by a hard object.

The concerned police have deposited the body to the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences for post mortem.

Locals said they found the sack with foul smell emitting from it this afternoon around 6pm and found the decomposed body on opening it.

They informed the police, source said.

It is also learnt that family members who were present at the spot identified the body as that of the traceless 37 year old.

He is identified as Moirangthem Ibosana son of (L) Tambaljao of Waikhong at present staying at Kakwa Sofa Leirak since about a year and half year.

The family member further identified Ibosana as working as a director at a private import and export company based in New Delhi and had recently come home some months back.

Ibosana was kidnapped by unknown persons who came in a Maruti Van from Kakwa Sofa leirak at around 7pm of March 2 and had remained traceless ever since, he said.

A complaint was already filed with the Singjamei Police Station the next day, he said.

Family members had received a phone call from an unknown number with the caller identifying himself as a member of the PULF demanding Rs five lakh about a month and a half back prior to the kidnapping.

However, the family suspecting the caller to be a phony, demanded a demand letter and denied the demand.

The phone calls stopped coming after that, however, today there were numerous phone calls in between 10 am and 5 pm demanding Rs 10 lakh for the safe release of Ibosana, he said.

The caller however ddn’t revealed the name of his outfit, he said added.

Meanwhile, on receiving the news of the recovery of the body, SDPO Modhunimai rushed to the spot and checked the spot.
