KANGPOKPI, March 23: “Involvement in political issue is the need of the hour for the Kukis and a must for the creation of political answers” pointed out Kuki Inpi Manipur, speaker Ch Ajang Khongsai.
The speaker was speaking during a tour of the Kuki Inpi at Saikul yesterday.
The tour was hosted by the Kuki Inpi Saikul Gamkai at Saikul Hill Town under the theme “Strengthening Our Culture & Identity and Unity through it”.
Ch Ajang Khongsai further analysed on the issue and the memorandums submitted and the aftermath issues.
He further envisaged on the need to stand united in all fronts for the welfare of the Kukis.
KIM president Thangkhosei Haokip while exhorting on the need to uphold the rights of the Kukis emphasized on the right usage of economic resources and development in the matter suited to the customary rights by the Kuki chiefs as chieftain in their own land.
The apex Kuki body chief also cautioned the Kukis not to falter in their fight.
In the meantime while highlighting the formulae of “Kai” which mean “Tax to be borne by one and all (the Kukis),” KIM finance committee chairman also reported the financial status of the tour program which was also participated by Kuki Inpi Sadar Hills, Kuki Inpi IT Road (Twilang) and Kuki Inpi Tamenglong.
The KIM Saikul tour also resolved and reaffirmed its stand on the long standing issues of police boundary issue, Kuki political issue and custom, culture and traditional issues.
The next round of tour program is schedule to be held at Hengbung village on March 25 and to be hosted by the Kuki Inpi Gunhom Lhang from where it will proceed to Moltam Lhang on March 29 to be hosted by the Kuki Inpi Moltam Lhang under the theme “Strengthening our culture and Identity.”
