Lack of doctors affecting CHC, Kpi

KANGPOKPI, March 27: In view of the shortage of doctors, the Community Health Centre at Kangpokpi has been constraint to discontinue its 24×7 services rendering tremendous hardships to the general public.

The CHC, Kangpokpi continued to run its Out Patient Department (OPD) service only with two working doctors at the centre.

Dr T Zamkhokam Kuki, sr MO i/c CHC and DMO Kangpokpi said that we are constraint to discontinue the present 24×7 health service at the CHC but continued with OPD service only till adequate doctors are posted.

“I have already sent a written representation to the director Medical and Health Services, Manipur informing that the number of doctors at CHC Kangpokpi has been reduced to three working doctors at present with the latest transfer and posting of Secretariat Health Department Order dated February 26, 2014 and March 3, 2014.”

He continued that out of three working doctors at present one who has been already been selected for further studies may leave in the end of the month which will render the CHC with only two working doctors.

He further said that the number of doctors sanctioned at the CHC is ten but only five are in position. Out of five doctors in position two doctors are under PG training and one is under 6 months training. The MO in-charge urged the director M&HS, Manipur for posting of more doctors so as to ensure at least six doctors in working condition at the CHC out of ten sanctioned.

He continued that on March 25 Director of Health Services, Manipur A Bijoy Singh issued an order stating that MO Kalapahar and MO, DH Senapati shall work on utilization basis at the CHC Kangpokpi with immediate effect in public interest.

According to sources, there are three Sub-Centres and six PHCs under CHC Kangpokpi with over one lakh sixty eight thousand population.

In the meantime, the KSO-SH has already announced to impose various forms of agitation starting with 24hr total bandh along all national highways within Sadar Hills from midnight of March 28.
