IMPHAL, March 8: Staff of Dr Tarunibala’s private clinic, family members and local womenfolk of Uripok Khaidem Leikai today staged a sit in protest against the life attempt on the RIMS doctor.
The sit in protest was staged in front of the clinic where Dr Tarunibala was shot at from a long distance, probably with a sniper rifle. The doctor survived the attempt as the bullet could only graze her occiput after piercing through two glass partitions of the clinic.
The demonstration was organised by the Uripok Khaidem leikai Development Society under the banner, “We condemn the brutal Act of life attempt on Dr Ng Tarunibala.”
Speaking to media persons on the sideline of the protest, Ngangbam Sarat a family member said the locals condemn he life attempt and further appeal to all concerned against repeating such acts.
He further condemned the act as a terrorist act, before appealing to all to clarify on the attack.
Meanwhile, the director RIMS Prof S.Sekharjit and all sections of employees have strongly condemned the attack on Prof Taruni of the Medicine department on Friday night. There is a sigh of relief now that she is out of danger, informed a statement.
