LWU deplores sub judicial act of compromise

IMPHAL, March 5: The Longdimei Women`s Union (LWU) has deplored a compromise made by two parties in the alleged molestation case of a seven year old girl.

It may be mentioned that L Iboyaima Singh son of L Mangi Singh of Khurai Ningthoubung Leikai, Imphal, rifleman of 5 MR Tamenglong had committed the crime on September 12, 2013.

According to the press release, the compromise settlement was made outside the court is sub-judicial and unfair.

According to press release, the arbitrary/compromise settlement made outside court on February 27 last at Zeliangrong Union Office, Kakhulong, Paona Bazar Imphal is sub judicial and unfair.

It further claimed the compromise was made under the directive of the AMUCO.

It is further said that the Prevention of Child Sexual Offence Act under Section 177 etc prescribes punishment against such persons who disrupt any process of law against the perpetrators of crimes against women and children. The compromised deal also misled Chiuliangpou Panmei, rifleman of 5 MR and the victim`s father and added that he has become a party to the crime.

It is an appeal to all NGOs, civil society, Child Welfare Committee, Tamenglong and all the right seeking people to condemn and take appropriate action against such incident which indirectly supported and encouraged the crimes against women and children, it added.
