IMPHAL, March 15: Imphal East police have arrested four militants during the last 24 hours including a woman allegedly involved in the grenade attack at the residence of Ukhrul MLA, Samuel Risom.
According to a reliable source, a team of the Imphal East district police under the supervision of additional SP (ops) Imphal East, Singhajit and led by OC I/E cdo P Achouba arrested a woman cadre of the Manipur Tribal Revolutionary Army from near the Khuman Lampak Inter State Bus Terminus.
The arrested MTRA women cadre has been identified as Thingreiwon Vasom alias Athing, 45, wife of Jimik Vasom of Lamlang gate Ukhrul.
She was personally involved in the bomb attack at the residence of MLA Ukhrul Samuel Risom at Kabo Leikai Deulaland on February 19, at around 7.30pm, sources added
The same team had arrested two more cadres of the PREPAK (Pro) along with a demand letter from the JNIMS Main Gate during a frisking and checking operation yesterday noon.
The source further identified the two as Khaidem Joy alias Ingocha, 40 son of Ibetombi of Maiba Khul Maning Leikai and Moirangthem Budha, 45 son of (L) Samu of Nongmeibung Seram Leirak.
Both are working under self-style captain PREPAK (pro) Jiten, it said.
The same I/E police team also conducted a cordon and search operation at New Lambulane area around 3.30pm today and arrested a cadre of the KRA (U) identified as Ngulijalien Haokip alias Lien, 37, son of Tonglom Haokip of Loibol Khunou Khonou Sajar village and recovered a mobile handset.
Sources said Lien is working under the outfit’s self-styled commander In chief Hegin.
Imphal East district police also conducted a cordon and search operation at Haokip Veng and Mahabali Kabui VIllage this morning and detained 13 persons including three non-locals who failed to produce proper verifications.
The 13 were later handed over to the Porompat Police.
The operation was conducted since 5am today under the supervision of additional SP (ops) Imphal East Singhajit.
