IMPHAL, March 27: The Manipur police commandos reportedly arrested atleast four militant cadres in separate counter insurgency operations conducted in the state.
A statement issued by S Gautum Singh, PRO Manipur Police, said that the first incident taken place on March 25 wherein the Imphal West Police commandos arrested three cadres of the ZDV, a constituent member of KNO.
They have been identified as one Seiminlal Zou alias Lalpu, 31 years, son of (L) Thangmang Zou of Songyang Village at present residing in Tuibuong Kamdouveng; Satminthang Kipgen alias Thangboi alias Stephen, 30 years, son of Mangkai Kipgen and Lamkhothang Kipgen alias Thangcha, 33 years, son of Sailal Kipgen both hailing from Motbung Inpiveng.
The statement stated that the trio were arrested infront of Sky Hospital while they were travelling on an Alto K10 car bearing number MN01S/4190.
They are working under the command of Chongminlal to extort money from shopkeepers, Government employees, general public, it said.
On the other hand, the Thoubal Police commandos also reportedly arrested a cadre of the KCP (Noyon) during a search operation conducted in and around Sangaiyumpham Puleipokpi and Mairenkhun area.
It said the operation was conducted under the supervision of Additional SP (Ops) Thoubal.
The arrested cadre has been identified as one Chesam Md. Abdul Hasim alias Apik, 31 years, son of Md Abdul Rashid of Sangaiyumpham Puleipokpi Mairenkhun, working in the finance section of the outfit.
One Chinese hand grenade and two mobile handsets were recovered from him, it said.
Case have been registered with the concerned police for both the cases, further informed the statement.
Meanwhile, cordon and search operations were conducted at different locations of Thoubal and Bishnupur districts this morning by seperate teams of Thoubal and Bishnupur police and commandos .
Altogether 23 individuals who failed to provide proper Id cards were detained during the separate operations and handed over to the concerned police stations for further verification.
Thoubal commandos and Kakching police conducted cordon and search operations at Kakching Irom Mapan since morning of 5am till 7am under the supervision of addl SP (ops) S Ibomcha.
16 persons were detained in the process and handed over to the Kakching Police for further verification.
A combined team of the Bishnupur commandos and personnel of 5/9 GR personnel also conducted a search operation at tronglaobi Makha leikai of Moirang police under the supervision of P Manjit, additional SP (ops) Bishnupur and Th Vikramjit, addl SP (Law and order) this morning from 5 to 8 am.
Seven individuals who failed to produce proper verification were handed over to the Moirang Police Station.
