IMPHAL, March 21: An 18 year old was found dead while another of his accomplice lying unconscious at Lilong Arapti Tarahei Loukon on the morning of March 16, after a mob thrashed them for trying to steal a battery from a diesel auto on the night of March 15.
Another accomplice was found in an unconscious condition.
The deceased has been identified as Md Syed Shahrukhan, 18, son of Md Taruk Ali of Lilong Turel Ahanbi and the injured as Azad Khan, 19, son of Md Basir Rahaman of Lilong Haoreibi Chandrakhong.
Sources said four of them were caught red handed while trying to steal the battery of a parked diesel auto on the night of March 15 at Lilong Arapti while a Housie Tambola and Leela were underway at Arapti Eireima Haroubung.
While, two of them managed to escape, the two others were caught by the locals and thrashed.
The next morning, Md Syed Shahrukhan was found death and Azad Khan unconscious at Lilong Arapti Tarahei Loukon.
Lilong police have taken up a case.
On the other hand, locals of the victims have formed a JAC against the incident.
The injured has been admitted at the hospital.
