No absorption of work charge and muster roll employees as of now

IMPHAL, March 3: There is no policy for absorption of the workcharge and muster roll employees of the Manipur Power department following its corporatisation.

This was stated by the state chief minister Okram Ibobi Singh in reply to a question raised by Keishamthong MLA L Ibomcha Singh.

Further in his reply, the CM stated the employees have been absorbed into the two new corporations with the same salaries/wages, post and benefits under the ‘as-is-where-is’ basis.

Work charge/muster roll employees are present in the other engineering departments also. Altogether there are around 4000 such employees. If the employees of the power department are regularised, the others will soon make demands for their regularisation, the CM asserted.

On the other hand, the pension and retirement benefits of such employees are the same with the regularised employees, he continued.

44 gold medal winner of National Games have been provided jobs in the Youth Affairs and Sports dept, 19 in the Education (s) and 50 more in the Home department, said chief minister O Ibobi Singh replying to another question raised by Thangmeiband MLA Kh Joykishan Singh.

However, 12 sportspersons and another 34 players from another National Games are yet to be absorbed, he said.

Efforts are on to provide suitable jobs to the remaining players, he said.

Replying to a question from MLA St Nunghlung Victor, Health and Family Welfare minister Phungzathang Tonsing said the 50 bedded Hospital constructed at Chandel Christian in Chandel district hq is constructed under the PDA. The contractor of the said work is D James & Sons Lamkang, special class contractor.

The total cost of the hospital is Rs 1909.74 lakh and 60 percent of the construction work is completed, he asserted.

The minister continued that Rs 622.91 lakh is yet to be released and the hospital is set to be completed by December 31, 2014

In another reply, state CM said there are four officers who are currently engaged on contract basis vide different agreements signed between the officers.
