`Permanent sub divisional agri office at Jiribam`

JIRIBAM, March 2: The Annual Farming Meet of the sub-division was held today at the Government Junior High School, Dibong organised by the Manipur Loumee Lup, Jiribam Area Committee.

The program was attended by Sub-Divisional Agriculture Officer (SDAO),

Jiribam, Surchandra; Manipur Loumee Lup, Jiribam Area Committee president, Kh Khumanjao Singh; FA Iboyaima Singh and vice president, of the committee Th Kumbha Luwang  as the chief guest, president and guests of honour respectively.

Elaborating on the steps undertaken to develop agriculture in the sub-division, Surchandra said preparations are almost complete for the construction of a permanent Sub-Divisional Agricultural Office at Harinagar, Jiribam, which is at present housed at a rented building at Kalinagar.

Jiribam being under the Imphal East district, seeds and other agricultural items of the sub-division were sanctioned from the total quota of the district, he said.

Now, the sub-division gets its own independent share of seeds and other items, he announced.

The annual meeting further adopted two resolutions- to demand from the government to meet the problems of irrigation faced by the fields in the sub-division and to provide monthly pension to farmers who have attained the age of 60.

Today’s meet was attended by several farmers from different parts of the sub-division.
