Post mortem of recovered skeletal remians conducted

IMPHAL, March 12: The post mortem of the skeleton remains recovered from inside a Mayangkhang jungle near Taphou Kuki Village in Senapati district was conducted today at the Regional Institute of Medical Sciences.

Family members have however, refused to claim the remains demanding investigation.

The JAC formed in connection with missing man and family members are also demanding a suitable job to the next of kin of the deceased.

Family members had identified the skeletal remains as that of Kangujam Shatrajit, 65 of Tabungkhok Awang Leikai who had remained traceless since November 18, 2013 morning around 8.30.

He was working at a brick farm located at hengbung owned by Paojoalam Kipgen.

Recounting the family’s ordeal since Shatrajit went missing, his younger sister Sabitri said two days before he went missing, Shatrajit came home on November 16, 2013 and returned the same day.

She said the next day he had called his wife from a co-worker’s mobile phone telling her to come and collect money from his work-site.

On November 18, the family was informed about his missing from his Hengbung work site, following which, the family rushed and along with the owner of the brick farm and others search for him and filed a missing report to the Senapati police station on November 26, 2013, she continued.

Meanwhile, locals had formed a JAC regarding his mysterious missing from his work site and submitted a memorandum to the state chief minister and Home minister appealing to search his whereabouts, she asserted.

She further recounted that some few days back, the Senapati police OC informed her family that a skeletal was found suspected to be that of her brother some five kilometer away from the brick field inside Mayangkhang Jungle near Taphou Kuki Village under senapati Police station.

She further hinted at the possibility of her brother being beaten to death and left inside the jungle.

She further appealed to the state government to provide a proper job to one of the family members next to the Kin as the deceased person is the sole bread earner of the family.
