PREPAK to observe Red Army Uprising Day

IMPHAL, March 25: The 34th Red Army Uprising Day will be observed, for the first time, on March 26 from this year onwards in commemoration of the various attack committed against the security forces, said a press release issued by Leibak Ngakpa Luwang, assistant secretary, publicity and propaganda of the proscribed People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK).

The statement further cited the killing of one SI of the state police, assault of two constable and snatching of 17 numbers of 303 rifles from the Moirang police in 1979; snatching of 17 number of 303 rifles by overpowering of VVF camp at Lamlai on February 27, 1980; killing of one CRPF havildar and assault of two constables who were escorting commandant Misra at Khwairamband bazaar near the then District hospital at about 10 am on March 26, 1980.

The release further said that in the revolutionary struggle to regain the lost sovereignty is a historical process for which many have sacrificed their life under the revolutionary spirit of “me first.”

It also mentioned of the General Assembly resolution of the United Nations of the 1960 under “Declaration on the granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples” which guarantees restoration of sovereignty to colonial countries and people.
